Furnace Operator (PM Shift) - Foundry Department

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Furnace Operator to support metal melting operations within the Thermal Destruction Department. This hands-on role focuses on operating and monitoring furnaces used to melt non-ferrous metals while ensuring all production, quality, and safety standards are consistently met in a high-temperature industrial environment.

What You Will Do
• Operate induction, gas, or electric furnaces used to melt non-ferrous metals
• Perform minor equipment maintenance and support routine operational upkeep
• Record before and after weights of material lots processed through the equipment
• Review startup checklists to ensure equipment and systems are operating properly
• Record operational temperatures hourly and maintain accurate logs
• Monitor the condition of furnaces, boilers, baghouse, and scrubber systems
• Safely pour molten metal into molds or ingots and prepare samples for laboratory analysis
• Accurately record production data and enter information into tracking systems
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with procedures
• Observe equipment during operation to identify irregularities or malfunctions
• Follow production schedules and support operational and quality targets
• Assist with general housekeeping and operational support activities as needed
What You Bring
• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous experience in furnace, foundry, metal processing, incinerator, boiler, drying oven, or similar industrial machine operations preferred
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Solid math and basic data entry skills required
• Team oriented with strong communication skills
• Proven commitment to safety and adherence to operating procedures
• Reliable transportation required due to limited public transportation access
Physical Requirements
• Ability to exert physical effort handling materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds throughout the workday
• Ability to work in industrial conditions including exposure to dirt, odors, noise, heat, and weather extremes
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around industrial equipment for extended periods
Schedule & Benefits
• 2nd Shift: 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, onsite at Fairless Hills
• Training Schedule: Employees will train on 1st shift for approximately 90 days
